General Course Description
The course is 6 hours in length and can be completed in TWO 3-hour evening sessions or ONE 1-day session.
Course topics include how to avoid head-on collisions, how to handle aggressive drivers and road rage, how to use anti-lock brakes (no in-car activity), how to avoid drunk driving, what to do if your brakes fail or if your gas pedal gets stuck, and various traffic laws and regulations. The Presentation is on Microsoft PwoerPoint 2007.
Class activities include discussions about why and how cars crash, use of hands-on "spot the hazards" game, view and inspection of an airbag, and selected video instruction that enhances the workbook content.
You will be given an acknowledgement of class attendance within a week of completion of a class. And you will receive an official Certificate of Completion within 60 days after completion of a class. Attendance documents can also be provided if you are scheduled to appear for traffic court. Your New York State driving record will also be documented with completion of the Course.
Owner/Instructor Profile
Marguerite "Peg" Barto is a native of Pottsville, Pennsylvania (home of Yuengling Beer and the Heart of Anthracite Coal Mining). She is a 1973 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and a loyal Nittany Lion Alum. Peg also has a graduate degree from the University of Phoenix and has given driving lessons to new drivers for many years.
Peg has been teaching defensive driving courses for over 26 years. She also has over 33 years experience in the insurance industry. Peg currently works full-time for AMICA Mutual Insurance Company in its Rochester Regional Office.
Peg has also attended 6 driving schools in the past 26 years and has firsthand knowledge of defensive driving skills.
Peg resides in East Rochester NY.
